About Us

SeaWitch Morris are a women’s Cotswold Morris side based in North Seattle. Our mission is to spread joy wherever we can! To that end we dance both traditional and not-so-traditional Morris dances, always to live music, and we sing too!

Dancing

We dance in the Bucknell tradition, although “tradition” may be stretching it a bit! We like to dance to old folk songs, but we also like to mix it up with new, unexpected sorts of music. One of our members even composed a tune for us! We dance with the usual sticks and hankies, but we’ve also been known to dance with brooms, stuffed bunnies and we’re working up a banana dance for a future gig.

Singing

We SeaWitches love to sing and we often incorporate songs into our performances. As you may suspect, we sing both traditional songs and more contemporary ones as well. We like empowering songs, joyful songs, sad songs, funny songs, you name it, we probably like it.

Music

Accordion, melodeon, concertina, drums, flute, penny whistle, pipe & tabor, kazoo, cowbell, triangle, you get the idea. We have a fabulous band of merry musicians and while they do accompany us during our dances, they are also amazing musicians in their own right. Sometimes, if you’re lucky, they even play a tune or two without all that distracting dancing.
